So far, Red Bull and Ferrari have looked the strongest. Max Verstappen finished on pole in the qualifying session for the sprint, with Charles Leclerc taking second place. Interestingly, McLaren have improved leaps and bounds as Lando Norris finished P3 while Daniel Ricciardo finished P4.

Besides the Papaya, Haas also has done a good job here at Imola. Kevin Magnussen qualified P4, which happens to be the best qualifying result for any Haas driver. As for those who failed to live up to expectations, Mercedes comes first as neither of their two drivers qualified for Q3 for the first time since 2012. George Russell ended up at P11 and Hamilton finished at P13. It will be interesting to see how they do in FP 2.
