Hungarian GP: Charles Leclerc TOPS FP2 followed by Lando Norris

Ricciardo previously showcased his prowess in Hungary in 2014 where he surpassed the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton to win the race.

Hungarian GP: Formula 1: Charles Leclerc narrowly led the way in an action-packed second practice session in Budapest, as the Ferrari driver set the pace ahead of the rapid McLaren of Lando Norris and the speedy Alpine of Pierre Gasly.

With running having been hampered by rain in FP1, the drivers were quick to make their way out on a dry track for FP2 and familiarise themselves with the Hungaroring circuit – many also looking to gather intel on their new upgrades.

Due to the worsening conditions, many drivers chose to remain in the garage initially. Valtteri Bottas, along with the Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, were among the first to set lap times. However, Carlos Sainz spun into the barriers at Turn 3.

Lance Stroll secured the third-fastest time for Aston Martin, with Lando Norris from McLaren in fourth place. Fernando Alonso, Stroll’s teammate, finished the session in fifth position.

Bottas ended up sixth fastest, ahead of his Alfa Romeo team mate, Zhou Guanyu, in eighth, as they sandwiched the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc in seventh.

Logan Sargeant survived going off at Turn 4 to set the ninth quickest time of the session, with Hulkenberg rounding out the top 10, ahead of his Haas team mate, Kevin Magnussen, in 11th.

Another driver to damage their front wing after making contact with the barrier was Yuki Tsunoda, although he was still able to set the 12th quickest time, with the other Williams of Albon down in 13th – last of the drivers that set a time.

Daniel Ricciardo marked his comeback by joining his former team mates, Max Verstappen and Esteban Ocon, in not setting a lap in the session. Also failing to set a time were Lewis Hamilton and Pierre Gasly, as well as Perez and Sainz.
