Formula 1 is the fastest, grandest, and glitziest motorsport in the world. It personifies the highest class of open-wheel single-seater racing. The journey of Formula 1 championships began roughly 73 years ago. In 1950, the first race at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on May 13 kicked off the beginning of this incredible motor racing series. Since then, over 1000 F1 Grand Prix have been held by FIA in 34 countries.

The seven-time world championship in his still ongoing career of more than 16 seasons has broken every glass ceiling previously set by the stalwarts of the game. 1. Lewis Hamilton – 103 wins

Lewis Hamilton won his first race in the 2007 Canadian GP for McLaren in his rookie season. Notably, the early success of the Briton was an indication of what the future held for him. He has 103 poles to his name, also the highest in the history of the sport. The 7-time world champ won 21 races for McLaren and 82 races for Mercedes in his illustrious career. Notably, he also holds the record for most race wins at a circuit with 8 home wins in Silverstone.

2. Michael Schumacher – 91 wins

Registering his first win for Benneton in 1992, Michael Schumacher went on to win his first championship two years later for the same team. However, his most dominant and destructive streak came for Ferrari where he won 72 races and 5 championships on the trout.

3. Sebastian Vettel – 53 wins

Often considered the true successor of Schumacher, the young German took the racing world by storm after winning in a low-end Toro Rosso car in 2008. Sebastian Vettel went on to win 38 races and 4 championships with Red Bull and later 14 races with Ferrari, his dream team.

4. Alain Prost – 51 wins

Another 4-time world champion, Alain Prost is one of the all-time greats. He won a commendable 30 races for McLaren giving them their golden years. He later switched over to other teams including Renault, Ferrari, and Williams when things got heated with his then-teammate Ayrton Senna.

5. Max Verstappen – 43 wins

6- Ayrton Senna – 41 wins

A true racer at heart, a true competitor, and an ambassador to the game, Senna is an ideal name that fits each one of the said adjectives. Winning his first race in 1985, the Brazilian legend went on to accumulate 41 wins and 3 world championships to his name before his untimely demise on track due to an unfortunate accident in 1994.

7. Fernando Alonso – 32 wins

The man to outpace Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari, Alonso is etched in the books of F1 as one of the fiercest competitors the sport has ever seen. He saw tremendous success at Renault and later shifted to McLaren and Ferrari. He is currently driving for Aston Martin, and fans are eager to see him win number 33 for the legend.

8. Nigel Mansell – 31 wins

Comes from a long list of Williams world champions, Mansell faced the best of the best in his days and came out victorious more often than not. He won 28 races and the 1992 world championship with Williams. His rest three came for Ferrari which he drove in 1989-90.

9. Jackie Stewart – 27 wins

A triple world champion and a British legend, Sir Jackie Stewart remains the most prolific figure to have donned an F1 helmet. His major success came for Matra and Tyrell in the years 1969-72.

10- Jim Clark – 25 Wins

Another legendary British driver, Clark drove only for one team during his F1 tenure, Lotus. A double world champion, and an exceptional force on the grid, Clark was on track to take many more laurels on the way. However, it was cut short by a racing accident in 1968 that cost his life.
