Formula 1: Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko rules Lewis Hamilton out of title race: Red Bull’s chief advisor Helmut Marko has ruled out seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton out of the title after the Brit endured a torrid start to the 2022 season. He has named McLaren’s Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to challenge Max Verstappen for the title this year. Follow Formula 1 Live and F1 Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Marko, who recently took a cheeky dig at Hamilton for being lapped by Verstappen at the Imola GP, believes that only Lando Norris can fight the likes of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen for the crown this year. He told German outlet Auto und Motor Sport “The only other talented driver I still see in this league is Lando Norris, but he doesn’t have the best car at the moment.”

The Dutch driver, however, lost 36 points after suffering two DNFs at Bahrain and Australia, which has played into the hands of Leclerc in terms of the driver’s title race. Meanwhile, the Monegasque driver sits firmly in the top position in the Driver’s standings with 86 points.

McLaren driver Lando Norris, who finished third in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, is sixth on the Drivers’ table with 35 points to his name. He trails his countrymen Hamilton by seven points.

Verstappen is second in the Drivers’ standings and trails the Ferrari driver by 27 points. Meanwhile, Mercedes are lurking behind as they can’t match the pace of Ferrari and Red Bull. They have been severely hit by ‘Porpoising’, wherein the car bounces at high speeds on straights. The Silver Arrows have dominated the sport and have won every Constructors’ title since 2014, but things have taken a horrendous turn for them this season.
