Formula 1: Porsche CEO meets FIA president with hopes of entering Formula 1: FIA president Mohammed bin Sulayem has allegedly met with Porsche CEO Oliver Blume in order to understand the German maker’s interest in the motorsport. The news comes after Red Bull’s team principal Christian Horner recommended it would be ‘logical’ for the Milton Keynes-based group to interface with the brand. Horner cautioned that the current teams present on the grid could oppose the expansion of any new entries. “Money is ultimately going to be a significant factor. I see a question, really for the promoter, that if they want more teams, they’re obviously going to have to dilute their share of the fund, because it would be unfair to expect the other teams to pay for the additional new entrants to come in indirectly,” added Horner.

“I think it’s great that there’s the interest from new brands, and a team like Andretti, a great name, but I think it’s something that, with F1 owner Liberty Media, it’s their business model that they need to work out for the future,” Horned added.

Volkswagen Group have uncovered their arrangements to enter F1 through their top-notch Porsche and Audi brands in 2026 when new engines are set to be delivered to stir up the grid. Red Bull have been vigorously connected to a link-up with Porsche while Audi are accepted to be hoping to procure their very own group.

Under the ongoing Concorde Agreement, new groups should pay a $200 million £164m for the entry fee in the sport. VW Group are in the last phases of assessment over their F1 plans, as they look for affirmations in regards to where F1 will head with its 2026 engines.

The gathering between Ben Sulayem and Blume accompanies talks progressing behind the scenes among VW and the FIA. Moreover, Volkswagen have clarified its goals and gone into the last assessment stage as talks with the FIA are in progress. Horner is inflexible that an arrangement with Porsche would be insightful as his Red Bull group hopes to assemble their own power units for 2026.

“We’ve just started a new journey as a power unit manufacturer for 2026, so, of course, it would be logical for us to look at all discussions about potential cooperation. It’s still very early days. There’s nothing to report and, when there is, you guys (the media) will naturally be the first to know,” Horner concluded.
