Formula 1 News: Nicholas Latifi overcomes Abu Dhabi horror: The Williams driver Nicholas Latifi was in the news following a late crash in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year. But, the Canadian driver says he is now moved on from the drama that happened at the Yas Marina circuit. Nicholas Latifi crashed in the 54th lap of the title decider. It brought out the safety car onto the track and also the red flag came in power. This led to Max Verstappen snatching the victory from the hands of Lewis Hamilton. Max overtook Lewis on the last lap and won his maiden Formula 1 title.

In the aftermath of the race, Nicholas Latifi was bullied and targeted on social media. Fans all around the world saw the Williams driver as the culprit in the loss of Hamilton.

After the drama that unfolded in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix two months ago, Latifi says he has put that very moment in the past. But he also admitted that he had a ‘tricky’ period after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Nicholas Latifi said, “I already feel that the event is kind of behind me. It was obviously a very tricky few days with whatever was going on afterward. But, it is part of the sport.”

“It was something that I was expecting to happen and I also mentioned it in my social media post too. I’m kind of past it now and looking forward to the 2022 season.”

Meanwhile, the debate over the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the fate of the race director, Michael Masi still lingers on. The 2022 season is just around the corner and can’t start soon enough as far as Nicholas Latifi is concerned.

Latifi added, “For sure, once the season gets started, it will give people something else to talk about. It’s long in the past for me now.”

The Canadian driver will be driving for Williams in his third year. Latifi finished in the 21st position with no points in the 2020 season. He did manage to score just 7 points and finished in the 17th position in the 2021 season.
