All the seasons of Drive to Survive have been a hit and were ranked among the top 10 in a week on Netflix, but Season 5 is facing a lot of backlash as it did match the viewers’ expectations. Why the backlash?
It somewhat felt like the series blatantly ignored the retirement of Sebastian Vettel. Whereas they paid a well-crafted farewell to Daniel Ricciardo who was forced out of the McLaren F1 team.
With all the adverse reactions that Drive to Survive – Season 5 is receiving, Toto Wolff, the team principal of Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team mentioned that this series is not a documentary. This statement clearly explains that nothing is scripted in this high-octane sport-based series. Hence it might not always match up to the viewers’ expectations.
Apart from all the backfire, something unexpected that happened in season 5 is the presence of dominant world champion Max Verstappen, can even say it’s the ” Return of the king ”
