Oscar Piastri, the 2021 Formula 2 champion, has been confirmed as a McLaren driver. He signed to drive from the beginning of the 2023 season. A few weeks later a high-profile drama came up.
It also included a court dispute with his current F1 company. The Australian driver has been signed by McLaren Racing on a multiyear contract beginning in 2023. It was after the FIA’s Driver Contract Recognition Board ruled in his favour against Alpine on Friday. Alpine was at odds with the kid when he claimed he won’t drive for the team next year, Piastri is presently the reserve and test driver for Alpine.
Daniel Ricciardo posted on his official Instagram account on July 13 that he is 100 per cent dedicated to competing for McLaren in 2023. Even after the rumours concerning his future with the team, he was still committed to McLaren. On the following Monday, the British Grand Prix in 2022, on July 4, Piastri had already been signed by McLaren. It clearly implies that Ricciardo didn’t receive a clear explanation concerning his future from McLaren.
