Windsor explained in a Youtube video, “It will be a hit in the region of twenty million. Maybe more, or maybe less. Maybe they can negotiate it down or they can finance a seat for him somewhere else. In any case, that will be the key before everything can fall into place.”

Ricciardo has struggled at McLaren since joining the team in 2021. He has regularly failed to keep up with partner Lando Norris, notwithstanding having essentially more experience than the 22- year-old. He completed 45 points behind the British driver in 2021 and sits considerably further behind this year with a 57-point hole between the pair.

However, there have been a few high points remembering the Australian’s triumph in the 2021 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Meanwhile, it was also McLaren’s first win since 2012.

Moreover, the group are attempting to move the 33-year-old on to empower them to sign Alpine’s reserve driver Piastri. Nonetheless, they face significant obstacles to do as such. Ricciardo is contracted at the group for the rest of 2023 and subsequently should be paid off to leave.

This has grabbed the eye of Formula One expert Windsor who accepts it could cost as much as £21m except if they can find any sort of compromise.

The 70-year-old likewise accepts what is currently happening at McLaren leaves supervisor Brown in an awkward position, with the American regretting the arrangement he at first gave the previous Red Bull and Renault man.

“What will take some time now is the deal that Zak Brown will make with Daniel. Daniel will be riding for him for the rest of this year, so it will not be a comfortable situation for Zak. He’s bound to regret the contract he drew up in the first place, which means Daniel now has so many options and he himself doesn’t,” Windsor concluded.
