Formula 1: Max Verstappen not convinced with Red Bull car and claims it is a hit and miss: Red Bull driver Max Verstappen might have won two races on the trot, but he is still not convinced of his chances of winning the drivers championship with the current car he is driving. Verstappen has had to face reliability issues in the first four races as he had retired from two of them. Follow Formula 1 Updates on InsideSport.IN.

According to the Dutch driver, the Red Bull car is still a bit of a “hit or miss”, with reliability proving to be a big issue. After winning the Miami Grand Prix said, the defending world champion said “I had a lot of issues on Friday, which compromises your weekend, and especially qualifying. Of course, in the race everything went well with the start but it also could have been the other way around and then you of course can say like, well, fair enough, because if you missed almost whole Friday, what can you do about it?”

“We just have to nail down a really positive weekend without issues. I think of course, Imola, we had that, but it’s still a bit of a hit and miss too much. So we just have to make sure that we are more reliable and more on top of things,” Verstappen further added.

Max went on to miss the whole of Friday’s free practice session, which helps the driver massively in getting accustomed to the track. However, he somehow overtook Carlos Sainz in the first lap and then eventually got the better of Charles Leclerc to come home with a race win.

Leclerc mounted pressure on Verstappen in the latter part of the race but the latter kept his cool and won the Miami Grand Prix. Sergio Perez was also on the verge of retiring again as he had a power unit issue in the middle, which meant he was not able to fight it out with Carlos Sainz for the P3 spot.

This season has particularly not started on the right track for Red Bull as both their drivers retired from the Bahrain Grand Prix due to a fuel pressure issue. Verstappen had to again go through the same reliability issues as he retired from the Australian Grand Prix due to a fuel leak issue.

Incredibly, despite these two DNFs, Verstappen is still second in the Drivers’ standings with 85 points. He has reduced the gap with the leader Charles Leclerc to only 19 points, while his teammate Sergio Perez sees himself in the third spot with 66 points.
