Hamilton added, “I’ve not seen it. I didn’t think it was out yet. I’m excited to see the results from that report. I think hopefully everyone will get to see it. In order to have perhaps a better understanding of everything. I think ultimately, like everything, it’s down to understanding where we’ve been, so we can move forwards in a positive light.”

There has been some reaction from Mercedes to the FIA’s restructuring. Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff stated that the actions taken were ‘very encouraging’. It was particularly in terms of creating a better “support structure for the Race Director.”

The controversial end to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw an investigation into what happened. Since then, ‘detailed discussions’ regarding the race were held at the F1 Commission meeting on February 14th.

However, just days after that FIA announced the restructuring of the governance team had taken place. It included Michael Masi, being replaced as the race director for the 2022 season. It also saw some other changes as well.

The full report of the FIA’s investigation is due to be published. It will come around the weekend of the season-opening Grand Prix at Bahrain from 18th to 20th March.

Lewis Hamilton will have a new teammate this year in the form of George Russell. Both of the drivers were present at the launch of the Mercedes 2022 car, the W13. They also took the car to the Silverstone track to test it.
