The top-notch driver seems a bit confident about Mercedes being able to challenge Red Bull this season. On the first day it seemed a little strange for Mercedes not to keep up the pace but by the end of the final day of testing, Hamilton was second quickest. With this kick-off at the end of the testing in Bahrain, Hamilton and his team made George Russell are looking forward to taking the fight to the main race.
“There has been a lot of discovery and the whole team has approached it with the same mentality, working hard, not being complacent, and staying focused,” said Hamilton.

He also mentions to his team that they aren’t quite where they should be and is not up to the mark. But it is better to hit issues and solve them during the Pre-season testing than in the Main season.
Hamilton still has reasons to be sanguine about going on this season as the team of Mercedes is focused on the upgrade of the car and is estimating regarding the issues and what went wrong with last season’s car.
The Mercedes engineering chief, Andrew Shovlin talks about coming up with a suitable fix for some of the problems after long hours of working. Hamilton mentions that the team is clear about still having some work to do on car pace but it has given a proper picture of where they need to put their focus more.
