“I never ever said I was going to stop,” said seven-time champion Hamilton at the launch of the 2022 Mercedes car. Mercedes who launched their new car for F1 2022 season is named W13 and would be driven by Lewis Hamiton who would be partnered with George Russell.

After the controversial ending of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last December, Hamilton maintained silence on social media and on the press. Over his time of silence, Haimton received his knighthood and thus is now known as Sir Lewis Hamilton MBE. Hamilton made a comeback to social media on 5th February and was present at the Mercedes livery launch.

Reflecting on the moments after the Yas Marina race, Hamilton, who appeared alongside new team-mate George Russell and team boss Toto Wolff, added: “It was a difficult time for me and a time where I needed to take a step back and focus on the present.”

“I had my family all around me and creating great memories.”
“I eventually got to a point where I decided I would be attacking again coming into another season and working with Toto and George.”
The driver duo will undergo filming with the car on the Silverstone track on Friday following which they will travel to Barcelona for the first official pre-testing for the season. Following the testing at Barcelona, Mercedes will travel to Bahrain in March for the final pre-season testing before taking a part in the first grand prix of the F1 2022 season. The new F1 calendar year will kick start at the Shakir Grand Prix in Bahrain on the weekend of 18-20th March 2022.
