Formula 1: Daniel Ricciardo opened up about his mental health in a recent interview. He shared how his two F1 seasons with McLaren affected him. Ricciardo provided an open look into his life throughout the interview. The formula one racer happens to be the eight-time Grand Prix winner. He is currently Red Bull’s reserve driver this year. Daniel did talk about his unsuccessful time with McLaren. He acknowledged that when he was a member of the team, his confidence suffered greatly.
Before being replaced by Australian rookie Oscar Piastri with a year left on his contract, Ricciardo spent two seasons with McLaren. His replacement surely affected him a lot as he might not have seen that coming.

The McLaren CEO Zak Brown constantly said that Daniel’s performance was underwhelming. Such comments did degrade the racer’s confidence.
Ricciardo was third in the championship two times when he joined the Red Bull team. He has recently acknowledged that his time at McLaren caused him to question himself.
“For many years, I truly believed I was the best, and I am the best in the world, so whatever the situation, I’ll be able to overcome it.
“And obviously with McLaren it was tough for me to do that.
“So yeah, I was aware that I’m not the perfect driver, I do have weaknesses, so I’ll always hold something on to myself.”
The Australian was able to spend some time with friends and family away from the glare of sports. He has also taken some time to think back on the last few years and as a result, has learned new things.
At the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, Ricciardo returned to an F1 paddock for the first time since the Abu Dhabi race a year prior. Ricciardo spoke about his novel experience to sit on the pit wall during meetings. He also enjoyed assisting the team with marketing, and observing engineering debriefs.

He accepted that he is not the perfect driver, and he does have his fair share of weaknesses. So he will always hold on to something for himself. He stated that his confidence got a boost after he got back to Red Bull.
