Much of the great work has been done by Kevin Magnussen, who filled in for Nikita Mazepin after his contract got terminated by Haas. The Dane driver has shown composure and has outpaced his teammate Mick Schumacher. However, a few team feels Haas’ improvement could be down to some underhanded tactics. According to some reports, three teams in Alpine, Aston Martin and McLaren want FIA to investigate Haas’ 2022 car.

The same thing happened when in 2022, when the then Racing Point team copied Mercedes’ 2019 car. Alpine’s team principal Otmar Szafnauer, who ironically was then with Racing Point, claimed that he guessed that the teams with the best previous assets, for example, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari would be better put to benefit from the new regulations, but Haas’ development looks sketchy.

“Haas is a small team that jumped from last to third place over the winter. That comes as a bit of a surprise. I expected the balance of power to change. With such a big rule reform changes little because it favors the teams that have more know-how and better infrastructure,” said Otmar.

Nonetheless, the Romanian-American has confidence that the FIA will be determined in their observation of the circumstance. He added, “I am convinced that the FIA will investigate the case. And come to the right conclusions about how similar these two cars are.”

Alfa Romeo’s team principal Frederic Vasseur featured the significance of guaranteeing lawfulness in each angle, from the new financial budget cap to the sharing of wind tunnels. He also has no worries about the FIA’s honesty and ability.

Frederic said, “It’s like the old and new regulations about financial. For example, that the most important is to be able to control everything, that we have restrictions on the wind tunnel, we have a restriction on the budget. But we have to trust the FIA, they are doing a good job. And for sure, they will be on every single case.”
