Formula 1: The year 2022 was when Formula 1 saw a complete change in the rules and regulations. The FIA majorly simplified the aero effects and ground effects were back on the track. However, the recent Australian Grand Prix shows that these changes have been nullified. The FIA has finally passed on the advantage to Mercedes, over Aston Martin. The Melbourne tracks saw Verstappen, Hamilton, and Alonso bagging the first, second, and third positions this season. But the race has evoked some thoughts, especially of the ex-Ferrari team manager, Peter Windsor.

Windsor in his recent interview about the Australian GP pointed out the inability of Alonso to compete even with DRS. “We also saw how difficult, relatively difficult it is now, with the ’23 regulations, the new floor regulations, to follow another car really closely as Fernando Alonso found out. So, even with the help of DRS, he wasn’t able to do very much.”
Windsor moved on towards the constant comparison of the failure, highlighting the same in his YouTube video. “Fernando drove really well but again just to reiterate, it interesting that he again got beaten by Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes today.”

Windsor further debriefed as to how some cars will be prone to the new turbulence as compared to others. But he equally was surprised as to how Fernando was not able to get within a second of Hamilton.
The encounters between both the rivals haven’t been really smooth. Since 2007, both the drivers have had bad blood among themselves, after the reigning legend, Alonso was pitted against a rookie. The Bahrain GP hasn’t been very smooth either for both.
The drivers went wheel-to-wheel, leaving its fans in awe and wonder. Alonso also took the seven times world champion just by an overtake, making him look average. However, Alonso has appreciated his long rival, post the Australian GP 2023 race.

Competing with Hamilton for P2, Alonso highlighted, “I tried to force a mistake from Lewis all race long, tried to get close, but he drove fantastically well, as the champion he is, and no mistakes.”
