Mercedes has ‘not verified that Hamilton will comply’ with the FIA’s jewellery restriction, according to the stewards.

In accordance with the initial Technical Delegate’s report, 19 of the 20 drivers’ self-scrutineering statement forms had already been entirely completed, with just Hamilton’s entry pending.

FIA statement reads ,”The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team has not confirmed for his driver Lewis Hamilton (44) in the submitted self-scrutineering sheet that he is complying with the requirement to not wear any jewellery, in the form of body piercing or metal neck chains or watches .”
The Verdict on Hamilton’s Case
The matter was reported to the stewards, who quickly decided on ‘no further action’ because to worries that removal of jewellery may result in ‘disfigurement with numerous removal efforts’
The verdict says,
“The Stewards having heard from a team representative and receiving a medical report from the team doctor of Mercedes AMG-PETRONAS F1 Team, which requested an exemption.”
“The Stewards consulted the FIA Medical Delegate, who viewed the medical report, examined the driver and concurred with the opinion therein.”
“We have determined to take no further action as there are concerns about disfigurement with frequent attempts at removal of the device.”

The seven-time world champion has been at the center of the debate due to his well known love for jewellery , he has even slammed the restrictions calling it ‘a step backwards’.
The driver was called by the stewards after a potential breach at the Singapore GP last season, but he avoided a penalty on the grounds of medical exemptions having suffered an infection after removing his nose stud.
