Formula 1: How the F1 2022 season will be different from the 2021 season: The Formula 1 2022 season will see some changes in the media duties. Now, the media duties will be held on Friday in place of Thursday. So, it will be easy for the drivers to just show up on Friday mornings rather than coming on Thursdays. F1 is also set to see the biggest change in the set of regulations. These changes are going to happen after almost 40 years. Meanwhile, all the ten teams present on the grid are set for the new season to get underway. Both the Pre-season Testings have been concluded and the season kick starts on 20th March in Bahrain.

Formula 1: No more media days on Thursday

Usually, the teams would have most of their staff at the track on Thursday morning. It used to lead to the media duties, which then took up a large part of the day.

But now, the Pre-race driver press conference has been moved to Friday morning. This conference used to have all the 20 drivers speak in pairs over a four-hour period.

Thursdays will now see a late start. Meanwhile, it will help everybody and allow some to fly in the morning for the event rather than on Wednesdays. However, a 3.5-hour window has been locked for the team track walks.

The FIA will also carry out their system checks and do the necessary track inspections. Meanwhile, the teams will complete their engineering meetings.

Formula 1: The media duties have been now moved to Friday

The drivers’ press conference will now be held on Friday mornings. The conference will run for over two hours. However, it should be completed 90 minutes before the first practice session gets underway.

There’ll be a two-hour gap between the FP1 and FP2 sessions. Also, the team personnel press conference has been moved to Saturday morning. Also, it should be completed 90 minutes before the FP3 session. Previously, this conference used to be held between the two practice sessions.

Formula 1: Now the team bosses will speak on Saturday

The team principals’ press conference was previously held between the two practice sessions of Friday. But now, it has moved to Saturday and should be completed 90 minutes before the FP3 session.

Formula 1: Christian Horner, the Team Principal of Red Bull, Toto Wolff, the Team Principal for Mercedes, and Mattia Binotto, the Team Principal for Ferrari.

Then the final FP3 session concludes on Saturday with the qualifying following a couple of hours later.

Sundays are unchanged

The Grand Prix is held on Sundays and it also remains the showpiece event. Its exact time can vary depending on race location and time zones.

The drivers’ parade, where all 20 drivers jump on a low-loader truck or take seats in a classic car to lap the circuit, remains. They do this while being interviewed and should be completed two hours before the race.
