Formula 1: Nikita Mazepin and Bernie Ecclestone rescue Mick Schumacher from Haas criticism: Ex-Formula 1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone and former Haas driver Nikita Mazepin have come in support of Mick Schumacher after criticism from Haas. Meanwhile, Ecclestone has also criticized Haas’ team principal Guenther Steiner for his public criticism of Mick and claims it would never have happened ‘if Michael was here’. Some people think Mick needs to improve his performances and results, whereas some have backed him and Ecclestone is the latest to do so. He thinks Schumacher has been ‘difficult to assess’ and he wouldn’t have been criticized so badly if his legendary father was alive.

“We don’t know how good or bad the car is. It makes a big difference whether the car suits his driving style or not. He doesn’t need people telling him [negative things] all the time. He needs someone to help him and not criticise him too much.”

“If Michael was here, he would tell Gunther where to go – that would help a lot. If he upsets the team and they kick him out, the question then becomes whether another team is ready to take him on. So he’s suffering a bit and hoping someone will give him a chance. He has the ability, so it’s whether there’s a team that wants to take him and try to see if he is as good as his dad,” Ecclestone added.

Those crashes prompted public analysis from team principal Steiner, who didn’t hold back in criticizing Mick as he runs a team with the smallest budget on the grid. “It’s not very satisfactory having a big crash again. We need to see how we move forward from here,” Steiner added.
