The news means that Gasly stays contracted to the Red Bull program yet driving for its lesser group, where he memorably won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. AlphaTauri has assisted Gasly with reviving his career after a fleeting spell at Red Bull in 2018.

In front of the Canadian Grand Prix, team principal Franz Tost said it was ‘100 percent’ certain that Gasly would stay with the group one year from now, in spite of the fact that there was no authority correspondence from the group saying so and the Frenchman had never expressly said he was staying.
