However, those who make the decisions are completely unaware of what is happening inside the vehicle. On lap 56 of 58, the field was able to swap to new soft tyres during the stoppage for a third standing start. All thanks to a second red flag brought on by Kevin Magnussen hitting the wall.
However, the Melbourne race was abruptly stopped after the restart because of a chaotic Turn 1. It is where Logan Sargeant struck Nyck de Vries and Alpine teammates removed each other in addition to Fernando Alonso being spun out by Carlos Sainz.
Lando mentioned their car having soft tyres. It is challenging to convey how little traction there is on the circuit. He also discussed how the tyre doesn’t function on this terrain and at this temperature.

He mentioned how everyone was driving directly through Turn 1 and locking up. Because the tyres have virtually no grip, you must brake very suddenly, which creates chaos and incidents. Norris is clearly stating that the tire is nothing but terrible.
This is true because if the tyres had provided them with better traction, I suppose everyone could have enjoyed the race without the pandemonium, some clumsiness, and other things of that nature.

Norris noted the need for a tyre that provides us with more traction. A tyre that has the feel of one that belongs on a Formula 1 vehicle, the pinnacle of motorsport. On a day like today, Norris admitted that it felt pretty awful right now.
Sargeant, started last on the restart line. He locked up into Turn 1, forcing the Williams driver into de Vries’ rear bumper. Sargeant has so far escaped punishment despite the fact that the AlphaTauri driver was tipped over.
The American driver has also cited tyre temperatures as a contributing factor. He explained that when he applied the brakes, neither the wheels nor the brakes were hot.
