“We were always clear that if he wants to continue, we would like him to stay for long, yes. We are talking and we have a very, very good relationship, and it is not that we have to set each other deadlines,” Krack said.

“Obviously at one point, if we drag that too long, we will also be running into trouble, and he’s aware of that. But they are very trustworthy discussions that we are having. From that point of view, it’s all good,” Krack added.

Vettel has been in no hurry to pursue a choice on his future, beforehand showing he would hope to settle on a decision on the choice about whether to go on over the late spring. Vettel’s future is set to be a vital story in the driver market for the 2023 season, especially as most of the front-running crews have proactively closed up their line-ups.

In the wake of missing the initial two races of the season because of COVID-19, Vettel got his first points of the 2022 season at Imola. He even registered his best finish of the season in Baku as he secured sixth place in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Vettel expressed back in April that his future would depend on how Aston Martin answered the battles it has confronted with the AMR22 challenger, which went through a huge redesign the next month in Spain.

The change in vehicle idea gave the group a more extensive set-up window and brought about an elevate in the structure that saw Vettel score points in back-to-back races in Monaco and Azerbaijan. A further upgrade package is anticipated at the British Grand Prix this weekend, which Krack was anxious to use as additional proof to Vettel that it was gaining ground.

“For us, we have always said that we want to improve the car, and I think Barcelona was the first step. I would like to show him another step, and then we can talk, maybe then I can [and] his desire to do it is a bit better,” Krack concluded.
