Formula 1: Andretti teams up with Renault, set to launch bid to form a new team in Formula 1: The CEO of Renault, Luca de Meo has affirmed that the French carmaker has teamed up with Michael Andretti in his bid to start a new team in Formula 1. Follow Formula 1 updates on InsideSport.IN.
While the FIA and Liberty Media are not yet open to the American motor racing entity, Renault has joined to supply Andretti with engines provided they receive the official approval.

“It’s not me who manages it, it’s Laurent Rossi (Alpine boss). But I think there are discussions. It’s interesting because there is a great project behind it. There are competent people who have the means and it can be good for Formula 1,” said Renault CEO Luca de Meo.
Formula 1: The CEO of Renault Luca de Meo.Meanwhile, all of F1’s ongoing engine providers, including Mercedes, Ferrari, and the Honda-associated Red Bull Powertrains, work with teams other than their core group. The only exception, in this case, is Renault, as they do not power any other team.
“Obviously, in the current context, we are looking for the possibility of joining with someone. At one time we sold engines to Red Bull and McLaren. But that is no longer the case. I’m not necessarily a big fan of this idea. I think Formula 1 deserves ten teams that do the job from A to Z,” de Meo further added

Meanwhile, there are talks of Volkswagen brand Audi and Porsche’s entry into Formula 1 in 2026, and Renault are open to the idea since they believe more big players from the car manufacturing industry entering Formula 1 will once add to the sport’s glamour and excitement.
“It’s good, of course, it’s good. It’s good for the sport, it’s good for the fans. I’m an automotive guy, so seeing the big car manufacturers believe in that can only make me happy,” the Renault CEO concluded.
