“More times than not, I’ll kind of chuckle at the doubt. Because even last year, for sure, there were times where I was trying to figure it out. It is not only pundits who are critical of his performances, but his team also thinks the same. McLaren’s CEO, Zak Brown, as of late implied that it’s possible that McLaren can cut ties with the Australian driver. Although, his contract with the team is till 2023.
Ricciardo has won only 11 points after seven races up to this point this year and sits eleventh in the drivers’ standings. Meanwhile, his teammate Lando Norris claims the seventh spot and has gathered 48 points. Moreover, both the drivers have one retirement to their name.

The Australian driver really needs to get his head together and start showing results on the track. If that’s not the case then McLaren might cut their ties with the Honey Badger and move on. But for that to happen, they need to give Ricciardo a competitive car that can fight against the likes of Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes.
