Leclerc said after winning the Australian Grand Prix, “I have been in this situation in the junior categories but to be in it in F1 means a lot. Especially after the last two years and especially with a team like Ferrari. So it feels incredible. Obviously, the mindset is a bit different compared to the last two years.”

“Because now I know that underneath me I have a car that is capable of winning. And I don’t really have to overdo things to do something extremely special and spectacular to get one or two positions. Because I know it is in the car and I just have to do the job.”

Charles Leclerc has enjoyed a dream start to the 2022 Formula 1 season. He finds himself on the top of the Drivers standings with 71 points. He is leading George Russell by 34 points, who is second in the standings. Verstappen sees himself sixth in the standings with 25 points and two retirements to his name while seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton occupies the fifth spot.

The Monegasque took his second win of the season with a prevailing drive in the Australian Grand Prix. Meanwhile, he kept on underlining his caliber as a potential world champion.

While he has up until recently never battled for the F1 title. Coming out on top for a title is the same old thing to Leclerc. He won consecutive title triumphs in GP3 and Formula 2 before sealing his graduation in 2018.

Leclerc has proactively dismissed the idea he made a move forward in his exhibitions from last year in the midst of his amazing beginning to 2022. Rather than essentially driving better, the 24-year-old says there is one key distinction contrasted with his past seasons at Ferrari.

Maybe the greatest question mark looming over the self-critic Leclerc going into the season was whether he could resolve his inclination to cause the odd blunder that has huge outcomes. For example, his qualifying crash in Monaco last year.

Leclerc recently focused on his previous mistakes out of a longing to deliver something uniquely great in a vehicle that was not prepared to do in any case battling at the front of the grid. But now Leclerc has a complete package underneath him in the form of an F1-75 car. He no longer needs to overdrive in order to deliver the results.

Leclerc’s performance at Albert Park was flawless and shows he has all the credentials to win his maiden F1 title. For the first time in his F1 career, Leclerc was able to control the lead of a race. However, if Verstappen would not retire from the race, Leclerc would still have comfortably won the race.

However, despite having a brilliant start to the 2022 season, Leclerc refuses to get carried away. It is still a long season with 20 more races to go. Leclerc added, “Obviously we are only at the third race so it’s difficult to think about the championship. But to be honest, we’ve got a very strong car. A very reliable car too, and for now we’ve always been there.”

“I hope it continues like this. And if it does then we probably have chances for the championship. It obviously makes me smile after the last two years. They have been difficult for the team and also for myself. So it’s great to be back in this position.”
