Ferrari has not had a good decade in Formula 1. They have challenged for the title just a couple of times, and have never been able to sustain it for long. However, returning after a gap of 50 years, Ferrari won the 24 hours of Le Mans. Charles Leclerc was in the Scarlet garage when it happened. In an interview with Motorsport.com, the Monegasque said he wanted to compete in it with his brother Arthur Leclerc.
Formula 1 Struggles and Le Mans Success
Charles Leclerc has been at Ferrari for the last 5 seasons and looks set for a few more. However, during his time, Ferrari hasn’t been able to challenge for the title convincingly. The closest Ferrari came was in 2022 when it started with arguably the fastest car. However, too many driver and team errors saw Max Verstappen and Red Bull win both titles.
Before Charles Leclerc, Sebastian Vettel endured a similar fate. His title challenges faded away in the wake of the consistency of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. The Maranello outfit outdid itself at this year’s 24 hours of Le Mans.
Ferrari was making a comeback to this iconic race after 50 years, having last raced in 1973. There is a sense of expectation whenever Ferrari competes in anything. However, few expected them to win on their comeback. But it happened, and Charles Leclerc was seeing it all from the garage.

A future team-up with his brother
Charles Leclerc’s brother, Arthur Leclerc, currently races for DAMS in Formula 2. He is also a Ferrari academy driver. Therefore, Charles Leclerc wants to team up with him and Ferrari to compete in the historic race. When asked about his third teammate, he mentioned Antonio Fuoco, who is Ferrari’s current WEC driver. He is also a long-time friend of the Monegasque.
When Charles Leclerc joined Ferrari, he would have imagined having a lot more success in 5 years. However, things have not gone well for him and the Prancing Horses in Formula 1 but he would be hoping for a turnaround after break.
