Carlos Sainz after winning the first race of his F1 career last week at Silverstone continued his great form and took the second practice session at the Red Bull ring. He was followed by his teammate Charles Leclerc in the second spot as Ferrari showed great resilience at the home of Red Bull. Max Verstappen, who dominated the FP2 session dropped down positions and could only manage to finish third overall.

Both the Alpine drivers showed great race pace in the FP2 session as Fernando Alonso took home the fourth spot followed by his teammate Esteban Ocon in the fifth position. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez who will start today’s sprint race from the thirteenth spot could only manage sixth place overall.

Mercedes’ George Russell finished seventh overall as he too missed some part of the FP2 session after crashing and damaging his car yesterday in the Qualifying session. He was followed by Valtteri Bottas in the eighth spot and Lewis Hamilton claimed the ninth spot overall. McLaren’s Lando Norris had to settle for a tenth place finish as the team showed improvements from yesterday.

Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll managed to take the eleventh spot and was followed by Pierre Gasly in the twelfth position. The veteran driver Sebastian Vettel had to settle for a thirteenth place finish and was followed by Guanyu Zhou in the fourteenth position.

Haas’ Mick Schumacher dropped positions and saw himself bowing out of the top ten as he had to settle for a fifteenth-place finish. He was followed by Alex Albon in the sixteenth spot as he too dropped positions and saw himself out of the top ten. Then came the Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo who claimed the seventeenth spot as he didn’t have a good day in the office today.

Kevin Magnussen had to settle for an eighteenth spot and was followed by Yuki Tsunoda in the nineteenth position. Lastly, it was Nicholas Latifi who settled for the twentieth spot.
