In the 2016 Austrian Grand Prix, Mercedes were looking to comfortably to secure a 1-2 finish but a final lap mess-up caused Rosberg to drop down to fourth place. On the last lap of the race, Hamilton tried to overtake Rosberg at Turn 2 from the outside but collided and damaged the front wing of Rosberg’s car.

The collision pushed Hamilton off the track, however, he ultimately rejoined the track and took the lead at turn 3 while Rosberg was pushed beneath Verstappen and Raikkonen to a fourth-place finish.

The Turn 3 hairpin is Spielberg’s primary overtaking spot, so it’s been the location of various flashpoints throughout the long term of racing held here.
