Daniel Ricciardo has ‘no chance’ to recover by Singapore, says Christian Horner

Christian Horner gave a potential timeline for the return of Daniel Ricciardo. His answer will not leave the Aussie’s fans happy.

Daniel Ricciardo made a surprise return to Formula 1 with Alpha Tauri after initially choosing to take this year off. He became a part of the Red Bull family once again last year as a test reserve driver. Since then, he received the support of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko and flourished under it. After a disappointing campaign by Nyck de Vries, Daniel Ricciardo replaced him at Alpha Tauri to partner Yuki Tsunoda. However, things have taken a dramatic twist yet again.

A Shock Return Amid Good Faith

Christian Horner always had good things to say about Daniel Ricciardo since the Aussie returned to Red Bull. Touted to be a Formula 1 World Champion, the Aussie suffered two disastrous years at McLaren. Horner mentioned how Ricciardo has learned some ‘bad habits’ with the Papaya outfit.

Insidesport

As Yuki Tsunoda continued to dominate Nyck, rumours began to grow. After Daniel Ricciardo had a good tyre test at Silverstone, Red Bull decided to pull the plug. They replaced Nyck with him after just 10 races for the Dutch driver. Daniel Ricciardo was back in Formula 1 with Alpha Tauri.

An Unfortunate Incident

Daniel Ricciardo had two good weekends before the summer break. However, during the first weekend after it, he had an incident. Oscar Piastri spun at turn 3 in Zandvoort and Daniel Ricciardo crashed into the barriers trying to avoid his compatriot.

However, Daniel Ricciardo couldn’t take his hand off the steering wheel in time, which broke his metacarpals. This led to another driver making an unprecedented debut, Liam Lawson. The young driver has had two impressive races on the bounce and is proving to be yet another challenger.

On the sidelines till Japan at least

When asked about Daniel Ricciardo’s Formula 1 return, Christian Horner said he had no chance of returning for Singapore. This also casts a shadow of doubt for Japan, since it’s the very next race. This means that the Aussie has very few races to showcase his talent to the Red Bull management, and any other midfield team that might want to sign him.
