Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz recently opened up about his future in the sport amidst rising Lewis Hamilton speculations. Over the past few weeks, rumors have been spreading like a wild fire that the British driver is in conversations with the Red team over a $50 million offer. Hamilton’s contract with the Silver Arrows is reaching a conclusion at the end of this season. As negotiations are going on in the silly season of F1, drivers are expected to answer about chatter outside the paddock. Sainz was recently on the receiving end of this hot gossip, Going on the same lines as team principal Vasseur, the Spaniard dismissed all rumors of Hamilton-Leclerc switch and anything that follows. The “Smooth Operator” is currently in his third season with the Maranello team.
One reason that might have led to speculations around his Ferrari exit is his current form. In six rounds of racing this season so far, the Spanish driver has only been able to secure a podium so far. He stands 6th in the drivers standings behind the Red Bull duo, Fernando Alonso, and the two Mercedes men. Most recently in Monaco, he finished P8 after having a disappointing weekend. However, taking everything into consideration, Sainz is secure about his place at the Red Team alongside Leclerc.

Carlos Sainz not seeking reassurances from Ferrari
The Spanish driver has always been one of the sorted figures on the grid. His contract negotiations have always been swiftly handled over the years. Except for 2018 in Renault, Sainz has never been in a uncertain spot regarding his future in the sport. Currently, he is in a contract with Ferrari to drive for them till 2024, i.e. next season. Talking to Sky Sports, Sainz gave some interesting insight into his future.
“If you’ve heard me in interviews in the past, I’ve always said I like going into an F1 season knowing where I’m going to race the year after,” said the Ferrari man.
Moreover, on being asked if he needs assurances from the team, he had a rather straightforward reply. “Honestly, no, because I didn’t feel like I need to,” he said. “I know at this time of the year there’s always this kind of rumours to happen. It’s silly season time. A week and a half ago I was going to Audi, a week ago Charles was going to Mercedes, now Lewis is coming to Ferrari – it’s the story of our lives when it comes to this time of the year,” added Sainz.
