Formula 1 British GP: Max Verstappen has been released from the hospital after some routine check-ups following his collision at Silverstone on Sunday. The Red Bull ace hit the barriers after colliding with Lewis Hamilton during the first lap resulting in a red flag. While Verstappen did manage to walk away from the incident, he was checked over in the circuit medical centre.

As per Sky Sports, Verstappen was then taken to Coventry hospital for further assessment and was released on Sunday night. Red Bull in a statement confirmed that the 23-year-old was released after a thorough examination and had suffered no major injuries due to the collision. The statement read, “Max and the Team would like to thank the trackside Marshalls and medical staff for their exceptional care both on-site at Silverstone and at Coventry Hospital.”

Formula 1 British GP: Posting a selfie in which he was smiling next to his father, Jos, Verstappen offered his fans some relief, writing, “Cleared from the hospital after all the checks were ok. Thank you to everyone for all the nice messages and best wishes.” The Red Bull ace had earlier hit out Lewis Hamilton for “disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behaviour” following the events at Silverstone.

Formula 1 British GP: Verstappen crashed out in the first lap of the British GP, after some contact with Lewis Hamilton as they were caught in a wheel to wheel battle. Verstappen’s Red Bull whizzed off the track and into the barriers as he was knocked out of the race. Hamilton was handed a ten-second penalty, but eventually won the race, his eighth title at Silverstone.

Formula 1 British GP: Max Verstappen took to Twitter to share his disappointment and wrote, “Glad I’m ok. Very disappointed with being taken out like this. The penalty given does not help us and doesn’t do justice to the dangerous move Lewis made on the track. Watching the celebrations while still in hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike behaviour but we move on.”
