Mercedes this year are not quite looking like themselves, but with Hamilton at the wheel, one cannot count the silver arrows out. Their car is really not up to the mark and this is where Red Bull cashed in. Along with Red Bull, Ferrari have also taken the fight to Mercedes this year. Red Bull and Ferrari look like they have got a hang of their 2022 cars.

The qualifying session will start at 20:30 IST today. The qualifying session is divided into three parts, Q1, Q2, and Q3. Q1 lasts 18 minutes and has all 20 cars on the grid. At the end of Q1, the five slowest cars are eliminated. Drivers who finish 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 are eliminated.
Bahrain Grand Prix 2022 Qualification Live: Drivers have a free choice of tyre to start the race from this year.Q2 session lasts for 15 minutes and has 15 cars on the grid. Again the slowest cars are eliminated from 11th to 15th position. Q3 lasts for 12 minutes and has 10 cars on the grid. The position in which the drivers finish in Q3 will be their starting grid positions for the race.
In the FP1 session, Pierre Gasly topped the timesheet after setting a lap time of 1m34.193s. It was then followed by Ferrari drivers Leclerc and Sainz. Charles Leclerc had a lap time of 1m34.557s and Carlos Sainz had a lap time of 1m34.611s.

In the FP3 session, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen again set the timesheets on fire. He finished P1 and had set a lap time of 1m32.544s. Second place again went to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc as he set a lap time of 1m32.640s. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished P3 and set a lap time of 1m32.791s.
