When was the track built?

The track was ‘by definition’ built for F1, because it is a street circuit on the F1 calendar, joining the positions of Monaco, Melbourne, and Singapore.

When was its first Grand Prix?

The first Grand Prix in Baku was held in 2016, as the European Grand Prix. Then in 2017, the race was held under the name of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which saw perhaps the greatest surprise of the time, with Daniel Ricciardo winning out from Valtteri Bottas and the Williams of Lance Stroll, while Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel engaged in a fierce behind the Safety Car.
