On the other hand, Fernando Alonso finished in ninth position at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Alonso was looking to score points again at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix but had to retire his car. He had a DNF next to his name and the reason for retiring his car was a failure in the power unit.

Meanwhile, even after having a setback, Alonso has no doubts about his car. He feels his car is more than capable to go against the likes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

Alpine are placed fourth in the Constructors’ standings after having 16 points to their name. Ferrari is leading the Constructors’ standings with 78 points followed by Mercedes (38) and Red Bull (37).

The Spaniard also acknowledged that he won’t be able to go against the likes of Ferrari and Red Bull. But, he would like to take the fight against Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso added, “The Ferrari engine and the Honda are still a little ahead, but Renault is there. We lack a second reference team but the data is encouraging.”

Alpine got praised for letting Fernando Alonso battle it out against his teammate Esteban Ocon at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Esteban Ocon also complimented his car.

Esteban said about his new engine, “Good. I mean, we didn’t have to be shy of anybody. As soon as I had the DRS open I could pass. I could overtake easily the Aston of Nico Hulkenberg, Lando in the McLaren.”

“Who else? I mean Fernando of course was there. I could compare to many different cars, and it was working well for us.”

Round three of the 2022 Formula 1 season now takes place in Australia. The Australian Grand Prix will start on 8th April and the race is scheduled for 10th April.
