Jost Capito reacted to the Audi rumours by saying, “It is interesting for every team to have a cooperation with a car manufacturer. If that really is decided then we will also hold talks.”

“But there is still no definitive go and the engine regulations have not yet been definitively decided. As far as I know, the decision of the VW Group also depends on the engine regulations. I think that will be passed in the next few weeks and then we’ll see,” Capito further explained.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen have given the green signal to their brands Audi and Porsche to join the pinnacle of motorsport. Besides Williams, Audi are also in talks with other teams present on the grid which included Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo (Sauber).
Talks were even held with McLaren at the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, but Zak Brown said that the team is ‘not for sale.’

Audie could find a viable option in Williams, which is presently driven by former Volkswagen rally chief and German Jost Capito. The car manufacturer brand dominated the world rally championship when Capito was with them.

He was later signed by Williams from McLaren in 2020 due to his rise in the sport of rally. This decision was made after Dorilton Capital bought the brand and wanted to see changes on and off the track.
So far this season, Williams have had a disastrous start as they are tenth in the Constructors’ standings with just three points. Only Alex Albon have scored those points for the team as Nicholas Latifi is yet to open his account.
