After being dismissed by Haas, Mick Schumacher subsequently signed with Mercedes. He joined as a reserve driver for the 2023 season. The Haas team principal, Guenther Steiner had mentioned many times that the German driver has tendencies to make errors. Even though those errors were due to the lack of expertise, it was hurting them.

However, Mercedes Team Principle Toto Wolff expressed a different opinion on the young German driver and mentioned how good Mick’s junior career track record was.

Schumacher will be spending most of the year out of the spotlight. However, Wolff is determined to get him some crucial time behind the wheel of an F1 vehicle.

In an interview, Wolff mentioned that Schumacher would replace Lewis Hamilton or George Russell in case of an injury or Covid infection. To complete all the necessary tasks, they will rely on their backup chauffeur, Mick Schumacher.

Wolff and the entire Schumacher family are well aware of Steiner’s treatment of the 24-year-old. Even the Mercedes boss believes if Michael Schumacher would have been there with his son during those 2 Haas years, then Steiner would not have had the audacity to treat Mick like that.

Michael Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, was not present to see his son’s development in racing after a skiing mishap in 2013. Since his father couldn’t be present, Mick was missing a reinforcement in the paddock. However, throughout Schumacher’s growing years, mentors like Sebastian Vettel did their best to guide him.
