The FIA has recently added Miami and Las Vegas to the calendar, and with increasing new venues, it seems that iconic venues like Monaco and France’s Paul Ricard will be chucked out of the calendar. The Aston Martin driver wants a rotation policy so that no venue is dropped off the calendar.

“You don’t want to lose out on the places you’ve gone to for so long. So it would be horrible to lose Melbourne from the calendar. It would be horrible to lose some of the tracks, the core tracks in Europe. I think it’s always exciting to go to new places. Providing they are good places, right places for us to be at,” said Vettel.

“Obviously we had an absence of racing in America. And then Austin came on the calendar. Which was very exciting and established as a great race. Maybe another great example is Singapore. We’d never been there before and now, you know, it’s great to be back this year. And, you know, the first night race, I think there’s something special about that track and that place. So it’s good to explore new sides. Obviously, you hope that all the new places you go to are an addition,” he further added.

It feels a little wary over the fate of a few existing races, with a restriction of 24 Grand Prix’s every year composed into the guidelines. While Italy’s Imola has gotten it through 2025, France, Monaco and Belgium are out of the agreement after 2022.

Formula 1: Sebastian Vettel wants a rotation policy where no iconic venue gets dropped from the F1 calendar.

Sebastian Vettel recommended a rotational timetable ‘could be a choice’ as there is a lot of interest in Formula 1. Vettel added, “There are financial interests in new places that we are going. And in the end, F1 is a business. But I think, yeah, for us, it’s a sport, it’s our passion. So we don’t see it as a business. I think we see it more as a sport and yeah, places mean something because of the history they have, or the tradition they have.”
