Formula 1: Red Bull’s team principal Christian Horner back out-of-form Lewis Hamilton: Red Bull’s team principal Christian Horner has backed seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton to make a strong comeback, despite the British driver’s poor start to the 2022 season. Follow Formula 1 updates on InsideSport.IN.

Hamilton has had a horrendous start and has accumulated just 28 points from four races. However, Horner is not ready to rule him out of the equation just yet, claiming that the seven-time world champion has the capability to turn things around quickly. “He obviously had a horrible weekend. But he is still an eight-time world champion, seven-time! I forgot Nico Rosberg won,” said Horner.

“He hasn’t forgotten how to drive in the last four races. So at some point, they will sort their issues out and he will become a factor,” Horner further justified his point.

Red Bull, on the other hand, are having a decent season as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez claimed a 1-2 result at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the end of the week. Meanwhile, Hamilton finished P13 and missed out on points, whereas his team-mate George Russell finished fourth and outpaced him.

Hamilton, who was fighting for the title with Verstappen not very long ago, was even lapped by the Dutch driver at Imola. Mercedes have apparently battled to adapt to the new guidelines acquainted with the sport during the current year. Their cars have been not able to develop any genuine speed because of the ‘Porpoising’ trouble – that is – their cars are bouncing on the straights.

“I think Lewis didn’t have a great weekend but we are very much focused on our race and trying to extract the maximum points. It was obviously one of those things. At that point, we were looking at the clouds, was the rain going to come in the last part of the race or not, we were more focused on that,” Horner concluded.

Meanwhile, Verstappen has made light of ideas he will take some delight from lapping his previous title rival. Verstappen insisted they have been ‘slow throughout the year’. “I mean, they’ve been slow all year so it’s not really a surprise or I feel happy lapping Lewis compared to anyone else. But it is what it is,” said Verstappen.
