Formula 1: Red Bull’s RB18 will be completely different in Bahrain: The first pre-season of Formula 1 testing got off to a solid start for Max Verstappen. He is happy with his new RB18. Max told the F1 website, “I just focussed on doing a lot of laps and try to really nail down every single aspect of the car. What was positive is the car was running smooth. He was happy with the balance of the new car.”

Formula 1 has a pretty new look to it this year. With the ground effect cars coming in effect. The teams had their first outing last week in Barcelona. It was the first time drivers drove the new 2022 cars.
Max Verstappen covered 206 laps, more than three race distances. He also finished in the top six overall. The reigning champions says so far, so good. While he was happy with RB18 in Spain, he revealed the car will be different at the second test.

Max added, “Bahrain is going to be completely different and heading into race one, the car will be completely different as well.” The senior F1 journalist Lawrence Barretto said Red Bull will bring major updates to the second outing. The official pre-season test begins in Bahrain from 10th to 12th March.

Barretto said the Barcelona car was ‘only an early iteration’. “Red Bull will bring a significantly upgraded car to Bahrain, as was always the plan, and after a reasonably productive opening test focused on reliability and system checks, they’ll turn their attention to chasing performance next week.”
The first pre-season saw Mercedes drivers topping the timesheets. Lewis Hamilton finished first and George Russell finished second. Whereas, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez finished third. Verstappen was sixth overall, 0.6s slower than his rival Hamilton’s time.
