Tony Brooks was born on 25th February 1932 and was famously known as the ‘racing dentist’. The Cheshire-born driver made his F1 debut in the 1956 Monaco Grand Prix and participated in 39 races in an illustrious career that was spanned across six years.

He registered his first win in the 1957 British Grand Prix and his last win came at the 1959 German Grand Prix. Meanwhile, his last race was at the 1961 United States Grand Prix. Brooks was then one of the most decorated drivers from Britain, winning six races with 10 podium finishes and 75 career points.

After the demise of Sir Stirling Moss in 2020, Brooks was the last living Grand Prix winner from the 1950s. Tony retired from the sport at the age of just 29 after driving for four teams – BRM, Vanwall, Ferrari, and Cooper.

Formula 1’s chief executive Stefano Domenicali was stunned after hearing the demise of Tony Brooks. “I was saddened to hear the news that Tony Brooks has died,” Domenicali wrote.
“He was part of a special group of drivers who were pioneers and pushed the boundaries at a time of great risk,” the chief executive further added. Besides him, FIA, Ferrari and the entire Formula 1 community came together to pay homage to the iconic driver.
