Formula 1: Toto Wolff claims Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will win the championship again: Mercedes’ team principal Toto Wolff has told that Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will again win the Formula 1 title after clinching his first title last year at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, in a bid to keep the Dutch driver under pressure. Verstappen has not had a particularly great start to his 2022 season, owing to no fault of his own. Problems with his car forced him to retire in Bahrain GP as well as Australian GP, which subsequently has reduced his chances of retaining the crown. However, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is of the opinion that Verstappen can still become the champion once again, as he stated “This (2021) was not Max’s last title. He is a brilliant driver.”

“Max performed strongly all last year. He missed out on a lot of points. He deserved to be world champion,” Toto further added, taking an u-turn on his previous stance.
The Red Bull pro has been given a tremendous lift after Mercedes’ team principal Toto Wolff made the striking expectation. Verstappen defeated a determined challenge from Lewis Hamilton to land his first crown in the last confrontation of last season following a remarkable finale in Abu Dhabi.

There were rumors that the connection between Wolff, who attempted to sign a youthful Verstappen back in 2014, and the Dutch ace was stressed. Wolff chose now to publicly show a lot of compassion when the 24-year-old was taken to the hospital after a shunt with Hamilton at Silverstone last year, but he has clarified that there is no rift whatsoever with Verstappen.

“It’s true that there were some controversial moments last year. Everyone has their own view on the matter. Their own perception of it. Often, the truth lies in the middle. But if you ask me personally, I think Max is very mature and intelligent,” he said.
