Formula 1: Toto Wolff getting frustrated with Lewis Hamilton: Former F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone claims that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff is ‘fed up’ with the seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton and thinks of replacing the star. Meanwhile, Hamilton has had a torrid start to the 2022 season and sees himself sixth overall in the drivers’ standings. Follow Formula 1 Updates and British Grand Prix Live on InsideSport.IN.
“Toto is getting a bit fed up with Lewis. I don’t think he’s trying, do you? Let’s put it another way, Lewis doesn’t seem bothered about losing. It’s not like him. He has a competitive nature – but he’s taking losing a bit easy for my liking,” Ecclestone said.

“Lewis might sell his position to Toto. ‘This is how much I am getting, I’ll step down and give me half of what I would get.’ Toto can go and do one of his magic deals, offer someone less money and keep £20m. Nobody needs to tell Toto this because he has already thought of it. Lewis would probably stop under those circumstances,” Ecclestone added.
Hamilton just missed out on a record eighth F1 title last season as Max Verstappen clinched his first-ever F1 title by winning the last race of the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi. However, this year, Hamilton has been not able to stay up with his adversaries at the highest point of the list of competitors, with his Mercedes W13 challenger battling with porpoising issues.

The Briton actually has one more year staying on his agreement with the Silver Arrows. Moreover, former F1 boss Ecclestone accepts Wolff has considered offering Hamilton a bundle to early leave the group.
Meanwhile, Hamilton has been surpassed by his new Silver Arrows partner this year and is two spots behind the 24-year-old in the standings. What’s more, Ecclestone has addressed whether the veteran is having a positive effect on the former Williams driver.
Formula 1: George Russell has outperformed Lewis Hamilton this year.“I didn’t think he [Russell] was that good but he has done an excellent job. I’m surprised. Or is it a case of Lewis doing a bad job? A bit of both. Meanwhile, I don’t think he [Hamilton] is actively helping George. I don’t think he’s doing anything. I don’t think he cares too much. He’s not prepared to put the effort into winning that he did,” Ecclestone concluded.
