The team statement read, “Displaying the Pride star represents a visual expression of our commitment to creating a more diverse and inclusive team. We firmly believe that promoting a culture in which our team members can freely express their personality and identity will result in a stronger and more performant team.”

The reigning constructors’ champions will run the new-look logo, which it is calling the Pride Star, on the nose of its W13 challenger at races in Azerbaijan (June 12), Canada (June 19), and Great Britain (July 3) to bring issues to light for Pride month and to ‘add their voices to the worldwide festival of the LGBTQ+ community’.

Both the Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will feature the pride star logo on their respected helmets. Meanwhile, Hamilton additionally conveyed Pride colours on his race helmet at races in Qatar and Saudi Arabia last year.

Mercedes has utilized its vehicle to feature a social reason previously. For the 2020 season, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group changed from its not unexpected silver livery to an all-black livery as a feature of a public vow to improve diversity within the group and sport.

Moreover, the group held the all-black livery for the rest of the 2021 season and then changed it to their customary silver for the 2022 season. The group has since launched the Accelerate 25 diversity and consideration program. Hamilton has sworn £20 million of his own cash to frame the Mission 44 charity. Both plan to further develop variety inside Mercedes and Formula One overall.
Meanwhile, George Russell sees himself fourth in the drivers’ standings with 84 points. He has been the shining light for the Silver Arrows this year and has finished in the top five positions in the seven races so far. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton sees himself down in the sixth spot with just 50 points to his name.
