Formula 1: Mercedes engineer Philipp Brandle feels Lewis Hamilton is not like Michael Schumacher: Mercedes engineer Philipp Brandle feels Lewis Hamilton ‘is not like Michael Schumacher’ after he compared both the seven-times F1 champions. Brandle, an aerodynamicist who burned through six years at Mercedes, claims Hamilton ‘needs to trust the vehicle’ consistently. Follow Formula 1 Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Brandle feels that the Brit doesn’t have the ‘technical knowledge’ in comparison to Michael Schumacher and thus this is the main reason Schumacher achieved so much success in the pinnacle of motorsport.

“Lewis needs to have confidence in the car, which is very important to him. He’s not like [Michael] Schumacher and doesn’t have the technical background. But he can feel the car particularly well,” Brandle said.
Hamilton has a larger number of wins than Schumacher. However, both are tied on seven world titles. The Mercedes star was on the verge of surpassing Schumacher last year to a record eighth crown but he merely missed out in his battle with Max Verstappen.

However, Hamilton has struggled this year in comparison to his new teammate George Russell. The previous Williams man has beaten the former champion in each race bar one this season and is more than 30 points ahead in the drivers’ title. On top of it, Russell has finished all the seven races in the top five this year.

Hamilton has faith in his team and also in the people who are working in the factory to turn things around and get the best out of their W13 challenger. He also feels that the team needs to improve this year’s car rather than moving their focus on the 2023 car.
In Spain, Mercedes showed immense improvement but things were the same in Monaco. They were severely bouncing on the straight lines and were not able to find any kind of race pace.
