Lamborghini’s inclusion in F1 was for a short period of time as they supplied engines from 1989 to 1993. Later on, they developed a car under the name Modena 291 in 1991 which had a V-12 engine. The Raging Bull even announced that they will be building a hypercar by 2024 to take part in endurance racing.

“Endurance racing and the LMDh has a lot to do with how we can transfer the technology into the street-legal cars, and Formula One is not,” added Winkelmann. However, the Lamborghini hypercar racers will be a proving ground for the association’s forthcoming hybrid supercars that will begin getting carried out the following year with the send-off of the cutting-edge Aventador.

“We started with a one-make racing series, and at the time that was a big step for us,” Winkelmann’s said, referring to the company’s first motorsport push back in the year 2009.
“This one [the upcoming LMDh entry] is eating up all the resources we have in terms of manpower and development capacity. Together with all the changes, we’re having on the normal line-up, there is no further plan to enter Formula 1,” the CEO further acknowledged, explaining why they are unlikely to enter Formula 1 anytime soon.
This news comes after the green signal is given by Volkswagen to its supercar brands Porsche and Audi to enter F1. The talks are almost done and the deal is in the final stages, and recently, the Porsche CEO even met the FIA President. Meanwhile, Porsche is linked-up with Red Bull and Audi aspires to buy a current team on the grid.
VW board supports Audi/Porsche F1 entry 2026. Porsche set to work with Red Bull. Looks like Audi & McLaren can’t agree on a deal. Sauber now seems to be the favourite option. We hear Aston Martin is also interested in a deal with Audi.
