Out of all the six manufacturers, Honda happens to be one of them to show genuine interest in the engine rules of 2026. The other manufacturers are Red Bull Powertrains and Audi, Mercedes, Ferrari, and Alpine (Renault).

By the end of 2021, Honda withdrew from F1 As their F1 project seemed like a complicated structure. However, they have an Agreement to supply the two Red Bull teams with engines until 2025. It’s almost like Honda is not sure about the withdrawal of its name. They might be having second thoughts and there is a possibility of them registering for 2026 F1. In case they decide to register back then they won’t be able to continue with Red Bull.

Redbull is in conversation with the Powertrains company. They might be coming up together in order to create their own engine. This means Redbull will not need Honda to manufacture engines anymore.

As a result, Honda needs to find a different partner if it wants to continue competing in Formula 1.
Honda stated about being approached by Multiple times and as well as Williams. However, Williams team principal James Vowles has all but ruled out the chance of Williams teaming up with the engine supplier.

At this moment Honda does not have to start with a full development project. it’s because the current red bull agreement Is being backed up by a F1 team in japan.
There is no commitment currently by the board About building an engine for 2026. They have this entire year to make that decision.

The Williams team principle, Vowles was questioned by The Race about Honda being a credible option for Williams or not. “ It’d be hard for me to comment because I’m not sure what they have facilities-wise. But I think they’re a little bit further away from where they would need to be to be a serious contender.” Vowles replied.
