Formula 1: 30 races could be a possibility

The current Concorde Agreement in Formula 1 runs till 2025 and allows only 24 races per season. Domenicali added, “I think there is potential to go to 24. I would say there is potential to go to 30. In terms of the interest, we see all around the world.”

“It is up to us to try to find the right balance considering what are the venues which would like to be in F1. What are the historical values we need to see on the calendar.”

Domenicali also said that some current races could lose their spot in the F1 calendar next year. He further added, “There are some promoters who have expiring agreements, and probably some of the current Grand Prix’s will no longer be part of the calendar.”

If this happens in Formula 1 where we get to see 30 races in a season and new circuits then the popularity of the sport will only grow. To date, fans have popularised the sport after the arrival of the Netflix series Drive To Survive. But, it will be interesting to see how everybody copes with the pressure.

New teams will also join the sport. It’s not like we’ll just have 10 teams in the grid but we can have 3-4 teams more by 2026. So, the fans are waiting eagerly to see a bigger change in the sport.
