Formula 1: Mercedes Unable to use Upgrades: Mercedes have upgrades lined up but are not able to use them because of their major Porpoising issues. Even their team principal Toto Wolff said they are not bringing any major upgrades to the track soon. It will only ‘confuse’ them more if they do so. Follow Formula 1 Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Toto Wolff said, “I think we’re just learning the car, we’re learning the tyres. Nothing we did this weekend in Australia has unlocked the aerodynamic potential or has reduced the bouncing. We’re still at the same place.”

“And that’s why it doesn’t make any sense to bring updates. Because you’re confusing yourself even more. Maybe it’s the fact the more downforce you bring, the worse the bouncing gets. So we are still learning.”
After dominating Formula 1 for years, taking seven Drivers’ titles, and winning an extraordinary eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships, Mercedes are on the back foot this season.
With all-new technical guidelines in play, Mercedes went for an outrageous plan when it came to their W13’s sidepods, named zero-pods. And that has been said, is compounding their porpoising issues.
The Silver Arrows has suffered more than most with bouncing on the straight. It is the consequence of the ground effect aerodynamic to create downforce. While the team attempted to shave bits of their floor off in a bid to decrease it. That hasn’t functioned as they are exchanging one loss of downforce for another.
Mercedes needs to cure their Porpoising issue as soon as possible. They are the only team who have been hit by the Porpoising issues majorly. Their up-gradation for the car is even halted because of this. If they solve the Porpoising issue, then 99% of their problems are solved.

It’s not going to happen overnight, it’s going to take a number of races. I think there’ll be little things, there’ll be incremental steps but we recognize that our rivals are going to be doing the same.”
“So it may not be clear to the outside world that we’ve made progress. Because Ferrari and Red Bull are going to be making progress as well.”
George Russell heads to Imola after being second in the Drivers table with 37 points. Lewis Hamilton is in the fifth spot with 28 points to his name. Charles Leclerc leads the table with 71 points and 34 points ahead of Russell. Whereas, Mercedes are second in the Constructors table with 65 points. They are trailing Ferrari by 39 points and lead Red Bull by 10 points.
