The Italian Carabinieri in Viareggio released footage where the Ferrari driver can be seen chasing the thieves in his car. Using video surveillance footage and witness statements, they were able to identify the two individuals on the scooter who had taken the watch, as well as two others who were involved in the theft. The couple was believed to have provided support to the scooter riders by preventing Leclerc from pursuing them.

According to Reuters, it is currently impossible to determine which of the two watches discovered belonged to Leclerc.
Footage of Leclerc chasing those thieves in his Ferrari was also made public by the authorities. However, this information was crucial.

Notably, Ferrari drivers becoming a victim of theft isn’t new as in 2022, Sebastian Vettel was also robbed in front of a hotel in Barcelona before the Spanish GP in 2022.

Lando Norris of McLaren was another F1 driver who fell prey to theft. After the Euro 2020 championship, he was robbed of an “extremely rare Richard Mille timepiece,” one of only five in existence.

However, coming back to Leclerc’s case, a person close to the investigation told Reuters that they are unsure if they have located Leclerc’s watch. They have not yet determined whether the stolen things including a Richard Mille watch belonged to the Ferrari driver.
