Former BCCI selector MSK Prasad has given a bold statement regarding team India’s future Test captaincy. Prasad has stated that Virat Kohli should be handed over the Test captaincy once more. To note, Kohli is India’s most successful Test captain as he went past of MS Dhoni’s 27 Test wins in 2019. Kohli also holds the record for most overseas Test wins as a skipper. In 2019, he surpassed Sourav Ganguly who had 11 overseas Test victory in his entire captaincy career. Meanwhile, Prasad emphasized the fact that if Rahane can become the vice-skipper after making a comeback then Kohli can also be given the leadership role one more time.

In an interview, Prasad was asked about the possibility of a young player succeeding Rohit Sharma as skipper. “Why not Virat Kohli? When Ajinkya Rahane can come back and become the vice-captain, then why not Virat Kohli? I don’t know what the mindset of Virat is on captaincy. In case selectors are thinking beyond Rohit, I don’t know whether they are thinking but if they are thinking beyond Rohit, then I think Virat can also be an option,” Prasad said in an interview with KhelNow.
At present, Kohli is in West Indies where he is gearing up for the upcoming Test series against the home team. The first game of the series is set to be played at the Windsor Park, Dominica from July 12 onwards. Kohli who could not do much during the final match of the World Test Championship will be itching to perform well in the Caribbean.
